Influence of heart motion on EIT-based stroke volume estimation

چکیده
Cardiac electrical impedance tomography (EIT) signals are affected by myocardial motion. The feasibility of stroke volume estimation using such signals is thus questionable. Results based on a dynamic model show that myocardial motion indeed affects but does not compromise stroke volume estimation.

Accuracy and reliability of noninvasive stroke volume monitoring via ECG-gated 3D electrical impedance tomography in healthy volunteers
Cardiac output (CO) and stroke volume (SV) are parameters of key clinical interest. Many techniques exist to measure CO and SV, but are either invasive or insufficiently accurate in clinical settings. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) has been suggested as a noninvasive measure of SV, but inconsistent results have been reported. Our goal is to determine the accuracy and reliability of EIT-b...

Background and Purpose: Shoulder pain is a common complication of stroke that can cause some rehabilitation limitations to achieve functional goals. The information about its prevalence and associated factors is limited. This study was conducted to detect more details about its associated factors. Materials and Methods: This study was done on 191 stroke patients at physical medicine and re...
متن کاملSystolic Time Intervals Measured by Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT)
Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) is a non-invasive and low-cost functional imaging technique that measures thoracic impedance. Until now, it was primarily used to reveal respirationrelated changes in the lungs. However, recent work has shown the feasibility of using this technology to monitor hemodynamic parameters. In particular, mean arterial blood pressure can be estimated via EIT, give...
متن کاملHeart Performance Determination by Visualization in Larval Fishes: Influence of Alternative Models for Heart Shape and Volume
Understanding cardiac function in developing larval fishes is crucial for assessing their physiological condition and overall health. Cardiac output measurements in transparent fish larvae and other vertebrates have long been made by analyzing videos of the beating heart, and modeling this structure using a conventional simple prolate spheroid shape model. However, the larval fish heart changes...
متن کاملA System for Continuous Estimating and Monitoring Cardiac Output via Arterial Waveform Analysis
Background: Cardiac output (CO) is the total volume of blood pumped by the heart per minute and is a function of heart rate and stroke volume. CO is one of the most important parameters for monitoring cardiac function, estimating global oxygen delivery and understanding the causes of high blood pressure. Hence, measuring CO has always been a matter of interest to researchers and clinicians. Sev...
